The holidays are here! Things are still far from normal and the usual Salt Lake City traditions won’t be the same this year. Still, there are events that have adjusted accordingly to let everyone enjoy a jolly season. Luminaria
If you want a holiday feast for all senses, don’t miss out on Luminaria! This remarkable holiday tradition will be featured in this year’s Great Christmas Light Fight: Season 8 Heavyweight Edition on ABC. The feature will premiere this December.
This experience will tickle your sense of sight, smell, sound, and taste with all things holiday! A one-way path will guide you through the brand new light and music show, with 6,500 luminaries covering the hills. One of the stars of the display is the iconic 120ft. tree on top of a 40ft. hill. New songs will be incorporated into this grandiose display!
If you want a moment of spiritual reflection, the nativity will be available for viewing at the entrance of the Light of the World Garden. This will showcase 35 monument-sized bronze sculptures depicting scenes from the New Testament. To complete the experience, indulge in s’mores and hot chocolate at the end of the route.
This thrilling event will be at the Ashton Gardens, from November 20 to January 2, Monday to Saturday. 5:30 and 8 PM slots are available for purchase here.
Christmas In Color
One of the safest activities you can do is to drive by the extravagant display of light by Christmas In Color. They have a location in Salt Lake County Equestrian Park where you can drive through acres of more than 1.5 million lights! The display is also perfectly synchronized to holiday music which you can hear through your car radio.
Giant candy canes, snowmen, arched pathways, and more are available on the route. There are just too many lights, you’ll feel like you’re entering another world! This event will open on November 20. Tickets are priced at $25 per vehicle from Monday through Thursday, and $35 per vehicle on Friday and Saturday. Visit this page to book your tickets.
Christmas Village at Ogden City
The Christmas Village at Ogden City will open its doors to visitors, but with a few restrictions. Many of the usual attractions won’t be available until next year but park goers can still enjoy the Christmas lights and Cottages around the vicinity.
The annual silent auction is also set to take place from December 7 to 12. You may purchase gifts for your family and friends while supporting a local tradition. The funds from the auction will be used for new displays, events, and maintenance. Click here for more information on the bidding process.
You can witness the wonderful lights at the Ogden Municipal Gardens beginning November 27 through January 1. Masks or face coverings are required at all times. Touching the displays, cottages, and other areas is prohibited. Virtual tours will also be made available for those who wish to participate at a safe distance. Herriman Night of Lights Holiday Parade
The Herriman Police Department will bring the usual holiday festivities at J. Lynn Crane Park and the City Hall straight to your neighborhood! That’s right, the Herriman Night of Lights Holiday Parade will be made available to select locations. This is the city’s effort to prevent the spread of the virus while still bringing joy to the community.
This initiative will include a laser show by Rocky Mountain Power and the annual parade. The police department aims to spread the spirit of the holidays as they parade through the city.
